Paul Bettany who plays 'Jarvis / The Vision' in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has revealed the events that led up to him playing 'The Vision'.

In a very recent interview with 'Business Insider', Paul Bettany mentioned that he landed the role of 'The Vision' literally within minutes after being told by a producer that he would never work in Hollywood again.

I’d actually just had a meeting with a producer who had told me I was never going to work again and I stepped out into Hollywood and I sat on the sidewalk with my feet in the gutter and I thought F--- me.

So far, pretty depressing right? Well, don't get to sad just yet.

My phone rang and it was Joss Whedon and he said, ‘Do you want to play the Vision in the next ‘Avengers’ movie?’ And, I said yes. And I sort of looked up to heaven and thought karma’s very quick these days ... and I flipped the building behind me the finger.

That is crazy, and Joss Whedon really saved him on that one. It was incredible seeing Paul Bettany play The Vision, he really did a phenomenal job and there couldn't have been anyone better to play him. I bet that producer feels like an idiot, as Paul has been very successful or as Bettany put it "karma". Even though The Vision doesn't show up until later in 'Avengers: Age of Ultron', when he does, he steals the show.

It may sound like a dream, or even a movie - the way it all played out, but it is far from such for Bettany. Unfortunately, this wasn't the first time that the acting veteran was told that he would no longer act in Hollywood again and yet he proved those naysayers wrong as well. Back in 2008, Bettany voiced Tony Stark’s cybernetic assistant J.A.R.V.I.S. in Iron Man, which he later reprises in the follow up films, Iron Man 2, Iron Man 3 and Avengers in 2012. By portraying The Vision and voicing J.A.R.V.I.S. in the Avengers sequel, Bettany has essentially become the first actor to play two roles in a Marvel film.

We can expect to see Paul Bettany back as 'The Vision' in ' [Captain America: Civil War](tag:994409)' and I would assume him to play a large part in the Infinity War too, as he holds one of the 6 Infinity Stones in his head.

How did Paul Bettany do as 'The Vision'? Did you like him?
