Okay first off, I am a dedicated fan of the Batman mythos. Not just because of the Batman's legend, but also because of the iconic super villains he has encountered in comics, television shows, movies, and video games throughout the course of over seven decades. The widely proclaimed idea that Batman's presence inhances crime in Gotham is one of the many things that make his story so intriguing. And that brings me to the Joker, perhaps Batman's most dangerous and well known adversary. The Joker is just as much of an icon as Batman if not more so. Jared Leto, the actor who is slated to play the Joker in the upcoming film "Suicide Squad," has quite the shoes to fill because the Clown Prince of Crime has been portrayed by some of the most talented performers in the entertainment industry. First and foremost, the unforgettable Mark Hamill, who masterfully brought the Joker character to life during the animated series and truly set the bar for generations in regards to how the Joker should properly be portrayed. Secondly, the irreplaceable performance of Heath Ledger, who sent terrifying chills down our spines and kept us on the edge of our seats in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight. And who could forget Jack Nicholson's energetic, flamboyant, and erratic portrayal of Joker in Tim Burton's Batman in 1989? Then, there is Jared Leto's Joker. Now I can't jump to conclusions now because the movie isn't even out yet. Hell for all we know, Jared might actually do the character's legacy justice. But just the way he looks in the photo, ugh!!! I know that the Joker is a deranged individual, but you didn't have to make him look like a Marylin Manson knockoff! Instead of him looking like the true Clown Prince of Crime, he just looks like a clown period! Considering the powerful and prolific reputation of the lunatic he is supposed to be portraying, I hope that this is a killing joke, because otherwise it is nothing more than an insult to one of the greatest super villains to ever appear in a comic book.
