Disney is renowned for creating some of the most fantastically evil villains to star in any film, animated or otherwise. Creating an antagonist with enough depth to be a great standalone character is something which many films fail at, but over the last eight decades Disney has perfected the art.
Over this Mother's Day weekend, one artist by the name of Maritza Lugo has taken some of Disney's most loved (and feared) villains and completely flipped them to reveal their sensitive sides by imagining them as the mothers of some of our favorite Disney characters! How genius is that?!
Take a look at this completely different look at some of the best Disney villains as created by Maritza Lugo:
A mother-daughter swim class
She still looks fierce, fabulous and larger than life, but there's a certain softness in Ursula's eyes that wasn't there before, and dare I say that motherhood suits her?! Ariel, the very little mermaid, looks so cute with her ponytail and tiny tail!
Not one but two are judged fairest in the land
"Magic mirror on the wall, who is the fairest one of all?"
It looks like the mirror has relented and allowed there to be two fairest people in the land! The (formerly) Evil Queen brushing Snow White's hair looks like such a tender mother-daughter moment! I wonder if instead of making a poison apple, if the Queen was Snow's mother she would make an awesome apple pie?
A Mad Hatter's tea party for two
The Queen of Hearts looks so lovely pouring little Alice a cup of tea. I personally love the tiny Mad Hatter toy on the picnic rug as well, not to mention the stacked up hat boxes! I can't help but think that this mother-daughter party of two looks a lot calmer than the unbirthday party from the original film!
Lady Tremaine and Cinderella swap shoes
She may have started the idea of a 'wicked stepmother' but this scene paints a very different picture! Every kid loves walking around in their parents' shoes, and a glistening glass slipper must be even more fun!
