Cowboy Bebop is a Neo-noir/Space Western anime that was released in 1998. Critically acclaimed and with only 26 episodes, Cowboy Bebop is one of the best Anime’s created. Set in the year 2071, the series revolves around Spike and his bounty hunting crew on board the ‘bebop’ as they go through Space catching criminals.

With a simple concept, each episode differentiates itself from the other. Cowboy Bebop isn’t your typical ‘Bad guy of the week’ series even though they do chase for a bounty in most episodes. Regardless, each episode has a more in depth plot and provides a lot of drama that really toys with your emotions.

Every main character in this Anime has a purpose and they have an episode or two that’s about them. This is important as it shows development and the character grows from what they were from the beginning to what they are at the end. Cowboy Bebop has sensational animation which is why it is ahead of its time since the release of it. The creators must be given great credit as each frame within the anime is hand drawn which is why the animation feels so fluid it looks to be animated recently yet it was released in 1998.

Cowboy Bebop has been rated high among many critics, receiving praise both in Japan and on an international level. Series director Shinchirō Watanabe has created a unique world that appeals to many audiences as he has infused a style that brings forth a futuristic atmosphere but applies modern elements so we the audience can relate to it thus understand what the Cowboy Bebop universe is like.

The soundtrack amended over this anime gives a strong touch of Jazz and Blues music giving it a classic vibe that makes the show so cool and is one of the reasons why this Anime is so successful.

Shinchirō Watanabe has delivered an iconic character that everyone is familiar with. Spike Spiegel along with his partner Jet Black, Ein, a pet Dog (Yes you read that right) and the troublesome Faye Valentine go through so much throughout the series having fallouts between each other but still managing to end up together to continue their journey. The best part of this anime is that Cowboy Bebop is a great example on how each character has a role to play with a purpose we find out as we watch the show to learn their past and how it’s affecting them.
