As one of the biggest blockbusters of the year I was looking forward to seeing Avengers 2: Age of Ultron. In many ways I was not disappointed. The movie was action packed and full of great acting. The plot was cool and as always with Joss Whedon the pace kept you enthralled and enraptured into the whole experience. The problems come in when reviewing the movie for family friendliness. Now as far as PG-13 movies go it wasn't all that bad. Mild cursing and some intense violence. My only concern is how much darker this movie is then the first one. People who watched the first Avengers movie may not realize when trying to decide whether or not to take their young children that this movie has a different feel to it. So below is a list of things that were found in Age of Ultron that was not found in Avengers 1.

  • Curse words more prevalent. Now I didn't do an official count but it is strange to me that the words stood out more and in many cases were actually called attention to by the characters in the movie.
  • Darker Violence. In the first movie there was violence galore. Lots of it but when things got intense there was all ways a lighthearted hulk slam or other breather to ease the tension. Not so with Age of Ultron. I don't do spoilers but lets just say our heroes are taken down a dark path. It gets pretty gritty.

The positive sides are the movie does show teamwork and good values overall. I took my 9 year old to see it but had mixed feelings about it.

Overall I give it a 9.5 out of 10 for adults and a 7 out of 10 for family.
