Word from director Ron Bonk and SRS Cinema is that the prolific producer's latest feature, "She Kills", is finished and set for an exclusive cast and crew screening this June 13th at the Palace Theater in Central NY.
Being a long time follower of indie horror and particularly SRS Cinema - an underground distributor and one of my favorite sources for truly obscure gems - I've waited eagerly since production on this movie was announced nearly 3 years ago. After all, this is the company that's helped unleash such twisted, wicked flicks like "Scrapbook", "Shatter Dead", "The Bride of Frank" and my all-time favorite, "The Period" (yes, it's exactly about what you think it is). And "She Kills" looks like the most extreme of them all! As a director, Bonk has shown a talent for varied, interesting flicks. From the intensely dark work of "Clay" and "Vicious Sweet", to the action of "Ms Cannibal Holocaust" or the theological battle of "Strawberry Estate", his work always guarantees something different for the horror fan.
"She Kills" looks like a love letter to Bonk's favorite 70's and 80's horror films. Here's the synopsis: "When Sadie's husband is murdered by a vicious gang called "The Touchers", she finds she possesses a strange hidden power to aid her in her quest for revenge! A homage to Grindhouse/exploitation pictures of the 1970's."
That hidden power, well let's just say it lies a bit "south of the border".
The film stars Jennie Russo, Trey Harrison, Michael Merchant, Jody Pucello, David Royal and Martha Zemsta and was written and directed by Bonk and produced by Jonathan Straiton.
Check out the trailer, and watch for it to soon start popping up in Film Festivals around the country, with a release coming sometime next year.
