After numerous television shows and movies spanning decades, multiple generations consider themselves fans of the funny, self-referential puppet characters known as The Muppets. Earlier this month, ABC green-lit the project to take the Muppets from the silver screen back to our TVs as a primetime series for the 2015-2016 season.

Today, the studio released the show's first official trailer that will make you laugh, while also making you feel all warms and Fozzie with nostalgia. Check it out below:

The mockumentary-style show will focus on more "adult" aspects of their lives: their personal and work relationships, behind-the-scenes, and their workplace dynamics.

We'll be reacquainted with some familiar faces and old antics, but through an entirely new storytelling method. The format might not be for everyone, but the jokes seem to land pretty well in the trailer. So, what can we expect to see?

The writers' room

It looks like 30 Rock, but with Kermit instead of Liz Lemon. Given my sense of humor and love of puppets, I'm already sold.

Meeting the parents

"You can say it, dad. He's a bear."

Old flames will burn out

Miss Piggy doesn't wait for any man...or...frog, I guess.

And new ones will ignite

Kermit definitely has a type.

From the looks of things, you'd be a real Muppet to miss it!

I don't know about you, but it looks like I've got Tuesday night plans starting when The Muppets airs this fall.
