Arrow is over for the season. That stinks. The Flash has one more episode. That rocks. Things are revealed and I have theories! FYI in case you are not caught up on The Flash/Arrow there are spoilers ahead, so
********** SPOILER ALERT **********
This week’s episode of The Flash “Rogue Air” had Barry Allen and his crew team up with Captain Cold and his sister Golden Glider. They transport the meta-human inmates from the pipeline prison to Ferris Airfield where they are to be picked up and transported to the A.R.G.U.S. prison on Lian Yu. When they arrive at the airfield it is mention that the field had been shut down. Barry confirms this by stating that it was. “One of their test pilots disappeared.”
Skip to the end of the Arrow episode “My Name is Oliver Queen”. John Diggle, (played by David Ramsey) is extremely upset with Oliver for having kidnapped Lyla. In the end, they realized that Oliver just had a crazy extreme play to dismantle the League of Assassins and that he had always been on the “good” side. However, no that this is done, and Starling City has other heroes Oliver is going to retire. When John goes to get on the elevator, Oliver tells him that he should stay and help the city as well, but John tells him, “I’m no super hero.” To which Oliver tells him that he is a hero. His last advice to Diggle however, is to “Find a way to protect his identity.”
Let’s dissect these statements.
1) A Ferris Air test pilot is missing. What test pilot in the DC universe works for Ferris Air and goes missing? Answer: Hal Jordan
2) John needs to find a way to protect his identity, and he is not a super hero. I think this is foreshadowing to lead to John becoming a Green Lantern.
Wait, you say. That sort of fits, except that his name is John Diggle, not John Stewart. Okay, that’s fine. I have read several times in several places that many people are speculating that his name may be John Stewart Diggle. Or that Diggle is a pseudonym that he uses to protect his family.
But if Barry was referring to Hal Jordan when he was talking about the test pilot, that means that Hal would be Green Lantern and not John. For those familiar with the “Green Lantern: Rebirth” story line, the Guardians decided that each sector, including Earth sector 2814 should each have two Green Lanterns assigned to it. I think that it is possible, that in season 4 we will see the introduction of Hal Jordan, who has been on Oa training with the Corps and has now been sent to Earth to find another worthy of wearing the ring.
Add to all of this that when directly asked by ComicBook.com about the rumor, Ramsey gives a shocking response:
“Is John Diggle John Stewart? I cannot say “yes,” and I cannot say, “no.” I’m serious! I do know that there is serious discussion about whether or not this guy becomes John Stewart. But, I mean, I’ll say this: it is top secret. I’ve asked them and they’re like, “we’re working on some stuff.” If that’s the case, it’s gonna be huge. This is the stuff they want to avoid. I think they don’t want anybody to know yet and they haven’t even told me. But they have told me that they are thinking about it and that they are considering it. But they’re not going to release anything yet. That’s exactly what they told me. Greg Berlanti told me that. Andrew [Kreisberg] and Marc [Guggenheim] have told me that. I haven’t spoken to Geoff Johns about it. But that’s the word from people directly involved in Arrow- that they’re working on something.
“Here’s the truth of it: if I knew, I would tell you I know the answer to that, but I’m not at liberty to tell you that. I would answer like that. I probably wouldn’t tell you anyway, but I would at least tell you that I know. I honestly do not know.”
Now, I know all of this has been brought up before, and there have been many articles written about it prior to this one, but I just think that with the latest two episodes, the possibility is stronger than ever.
