There comes a time in every young ladies life when they must decide where to go next. They're forced to make the excruciatingly difficult decision of which path to take in life from here on.
For Arya Stark, her decision was deciding if she wanted to stay a Stark, or denounce her Stark name and heritage, and change her life forever. For Maisie Williams, the actress behind Arya, it's not that dramatic.
But it is just as important. Born in Bristol, England, Maisie Williams would realize her acting ambitions at the Bath Dance College years later, with her first role being Arya Stark, would-be assassin in the popular HBO series Game of Thrones. For now, her name is known far and wide—but mainly by Game of Thrones fans. But Maisie is a name, and a face that deserves to receive worldwide praise! With or without the HBO show.
Maisie hasn't done many noteworthy things outside of GoT, aside from some television guest appearances and a few independent films, but don't think that's because of her acting skills. Maisie is an absolutely amazing actress, and if you've ever seen even a promo of her in Game of Thrones, you'd know that's the truth! Maisie has said that she is a humble actress, which is likely why she doesn't have a lot of roles right now. Plus, she started young and wanted to maintain her normal life, so GoT was the only big project she could handle. But now, Maisie has become an experienced actor, and I believe that she's not only ready to walk the path to stardom, she's already walking it.
Maisie Williams has managed to become a successful and popular actor at 18, by just playing a character that has a side-role in a much larger plot; that's almost unheard of!
Well now, they're starting to, as Maisie is already being looked at for some pretty major stuff. One such thing is the upcoming film adaption of the popular videogame The Last Of Us!
While nothing's been confirmed yet, Maisie is in talks to portray Ellie in the film. She's made it no secret that she wants to portray the character, and that she's the studio's top pick. Her name isn't set in stone, but it might as well be set in Valyrian Steel (I apologize if I confused you with that pun, non-GoT fans)!
But Maisie isn't just some girl who got lucky with the perfect role, she's got something to show for it all. First off, there's her amazing performance as Arya, which I have to emphasize, was her FIRST ROLE! If you've seen any episode of Game of Thrones with her in it, you'd see just how hard that is to believe.
In 2012, she won a Portal Award for Best Supporting Actress, making her the youngest actress ever to win that award! She also won an award for Best Young Actor. In 2013, she starred in the BBC series, The Secret of Crickley Hall.
She's also set to guest star in an upcoming episode of Doctor Who.
The point is, Maisie's may not have as many roles under her belt as other celebrities. But for an 18 year old with barely any roles, she's certainly made a bigger name for herself than you'd think she could at this time in her career! She's got the know-how, the skills and the passion to make it, and I have the utmost confidence in her!
Be on the lookout just a couple of years from now, Maisie's name will be on the screen, on the walls, in the skies! Seriously, without exaggeration, Maisie is my rising star because she's worked so hard, done so little (in terms of roles) and has achieved so much! An inspiration to all, mark my words:
