Now, X-Men: Apocalypse may already have a cast big enough to fill the most extravagant of biblical epics (which, seeing as Apocalypse himself used to be an Egyptian pharaoh, it isn't actually all that far off from being) - but that doesn't necessarily mean that director Bryan Singer is finished adding mutants to the movie.

After all, we already seem set to see Professor X, Magneto, Mystique, Wolverine, Gambit, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Storm, Nightcrawler, Beast, Psylocke, Angel, Jubilee, Quicksilver and Havok, as well as Apocalypse, and presumably his Four Horsemen - but there's always room for one more, right?

That Might Just Be What Bryan Singer Is Hinting At

After all, despite the attached note about the past 'catching up,' that doesn't look a whole lot like any character we've yet seen in the X-Men movies - or, really, any of the heroes so far announced. In fact, from this distance, it's not even entirely clear whether that kid is a boy or a girl.

Who Could It Be, Though?

Well, it seems to me that there are five leading candidates, considering what we know so far:

1. It's a Young Magneto

Which, admittedly, would be a little odd, seeing as it looks nothing much like the young Magneto we've seen before. If it was a late-World War 2 Magneto, though, it could explain the bows and arrows - since Russian, Polish or German soldiers (as those appear to be) wouldn't yet have had access to plastic bullets. Could those be stone arrowheads, perhaps?

2. It's Someone Magneto's Looking For

Two words for you: Scarlet. Witch.

It's a long-shot, but we know Fox has the rights to include her in the X-Movies, and there's nothing saying she couldn't be Quicksilver's Eastern-European half-sister in the movie universe...

Instead, though, it might just be:

3. Someone Very Close to Wolverine

After all, it's also possible that those uniformed folks are using bows and arrows in an attempt to circumvent Wolverine's heightened sense of smell - since guns would likely be far more identifiable.

If so, could that be Wolvie's young, female clone, X-23, or even his son, Daken?

On the other hand:

4. Could It Be One of Apocalypse's Horsemen?

After all - it's entirely likely that we'll see some variation of the comic-book Four Horsemen in the movie - whether or not they're characters who've already been announced.

Could this, then, be a youthful member of Apocalypse's murderous cadre, just prior to being rescued by the supervillain?

Or, finally:

5. Could Another of Singer's Posts Give Us a Clue?

Which, as Silas Lesnick recently suggested over at SuperheroHype, might just be teasing a recently introduced X-Men character: Nature Girl.

Could our mysterious figure in the woods be the very same hero? And, if so, just what would her function be in the already crowded X-Men: Apocalypse?

Whatever it is - I can't wait to find out...

What do you think, though?
