Fans of the high-octane gothic-action series Underworld rejoice! Your favorite vampiric Death Dealer is back for another round of supernatural brutality, as the ultimate badass heroine Selene returns to slay the werewolf hordes in the latest installment: Next Generation!

The new movie will mark the beloved franchise's much anticipated return after 2012's Underworld: Awakening, and I could not be more excited for the next chapter in the ongoing vampire-lycan war! The incredible Kate Beckinsale will return to star alongside British heartthrob Theo James (Divergent), who played Selene's lethal ally David.

Check out the unstoppable duo in this bloodcurdling resurrection scene below. Warning: Not for the faint hearted!

Very little is known about the narrative as of yet, though Cory Goodman's script is said to focus on (as the movie's title would suggest) a new, younger generation of vampires and werewolves, kicking off yet another blood-filled era in this epic feud.

Thinking about the franchise's future got me all nostalgic about the past - we've come a heck of a long way since Underworld's debut back in 2003, with franchise figurehead Kate Beckinsale evolving throughout the years. Take a look at her iconic looks from each of the four movies...

Which of Selene's Looks Is Your Favorite?

Argh, I just can't choose! It's like Sophie's Choice, except it's a choice between only one person...and she's a highly trained vampire killer instead of a screaming child. Hmm, I guess it's not all that similar.

Anyway, reminiscing about these classic movies also got me thinking about my favorite Underworld moment. It was a tough one, but it has to be Evolution's epic final battle, if for nothing else other than the truly glorious face-stab at the end. Check it out:

More rotary blade finishers please!

Directing the action this time round will be Anna Foerster, known for her work on The Day After Tomorrow and White House Down.

Underworld: Next Generation is scheduled to start filming in October, planned for a 2016 release date. Excuse me while I go hibernate until then.
