Kate Beckinsale And Theo James Will Return For Underworld 5!
Kate Beckinsale will repise her role as Selene in the fifth instalment of the action-horror franchise, having already starred in the previous four films with only a very small role in Underworld: Rise of the Lycans.
Also returning is Theo James as David, who first appeared in the fourth film, Underworld: Awakening. James has since gone on to star in The Divergent series and with that, the rise in popularity and two more Divergent films to make, will star in this film as a contractual obligation signed from the previous film.
Lakeshore Entertainment and Screen Gems have also added a director for the fifth film, hiring Anna Foerster, whose previous directing credits include episodes of Outlander, Madam Secretary and Criminal Minds.
Cory Goodman (Priest and The Last Witch Hunter) wrote the script and although no details have been released, it is rumoured the film will focus on a new group of vampire and werewolves stuck in a battle of the supernatural races.
Maybe some new, young, fresh faces to take over the franchise?
Underworld 5 will shoot in Prague this October with a potential release of late 2016 or early 2017.
The first Underworld film was released back in 2003 and starred Beckinsale, Scott Speedman, Michael Sheen and Bill Nighy. The movie was written and directed by Len Wiseman, who also happens to be married to main star, Kate Beckinsale.
The next three sequels hit our screens over the next three years; with Underworld: Evolution released in 2006, Underworld: Rise of the Lycans in 2009 and Underworld: Awakening in 2012.
