Do you guys remember Rockstar's game Agent? It was announced way back in 2007 as a PS3 exclusive of all things, but was only properly revealed, and got its title in 2009! A very strange move for Rockstar who normally like to share the love on all platforms. However, till this day the project still hasn't come to fruition. As we all know, this developer loves to keep things under wraps and then finally unveil the game in their own special way. Unfortunately, we never really got to see anything of Agent.

It was due to be a stealth-focused action game set during the cold war as it took players into a world of counter-intelligence, espionage and political assassinations. Aside from these descriptions and the fact that the game is set in the late 1970s, we never really heard much more. Could 2015 be the year that we see it, or is it Red Dead Redemption 2 the game that'll be getting a Rockstar release date next?

Red Dead Redemption 2 & Agent in Competition for Rockstar's Next Release Date

Agent has never been officially cancelled and in fact, Take Two actually registered two trademarks for the game in 2013. It was a game that Rockstar stated they have wanted to make for a long time - it seems that the time just keeps getting longer too. On 7 September 2009, in a Question and Answer section on their blog, Rockstar stated that Agent could be released as early as 2010, though Take-Two did not comment on the subject until March 2010, confirming that Agent was still in development.

If the game is still up for a release date it has most certainly progressed on to the PS4 and in fact Rockstar even doubted whether the title would remain an exclusive. Therefore, we could see Agent on the XBOX One too if Rockstar ever decide to release it that is. Personally, all I want is Red Dead Redemption 2. However, L.A. Noire was a remarkably great game that really came out of nowhere. Perhaps Agent could even eclipse the power of that game, we'll have to wait and see. But the setting and gameplay sound really fascinating, I sincerely hope Rockstar are still involved in the production for an impending release date!

Red Dead Redemption is still one of the greatest games I've ever played and I long to see how the title could be improved upon, especially now that first person has entered GTA 5. How cool would that be on the back of a horse?! In any case, be sure to let us know what you think of Agent in the comments and whether you'd pick Red Dead Redemption 2 over anything else that Rockstar may have in development!
