There’s been a lot of movies about Gods and mythical creatures from Greek legends in the past few years. One notable example would be the Percy Jackson and the Olympians franchise that feature the adventures of a young boy named Percy who is the son of the God Poseidon and a mortal, fighting off mythical creatures such as Medusa and the Cyclops to save the world. Another movie from recent memory is Clash of the Titans, set in the ancient times where the Gods are real and are worshipped by the people of Greece. Perseus, the son of Zeus is caught in the war between the Gods and must lead a group of warriors on a quest to stop Hades from defeating the Gods and destroying earth. That being said, there hasn’t been a lot of movies about other myths and legends from ancient times. Norse mythology got it’s spotlight thanks to Marvel’s Thor, but even that film deviated from the legends and used the original comic as a source instead since he had a different story in the comics than the legends. That’s why we are excited for the Gods of Egypt movie that is set to come out this 2016.
Featuring Gods and monsters inspired by the mythology of Egypt, this action-adventure is sure to be a fun ride for the audience and will encourage people to learn more about the Gods of Egyptian mythology. Though the film’s location is set in Egypt, they won’t be filming there so expect to see cgi pyramids instead of the real ones. But still, I’m sure they’ll handle the special effects well.
