Ever since I was young I "saw" things no one else could. I don't remember most but my mother certainly does. She's the reason anyone else believes me, and she only believed me after her now ex told her. Me and my brother always had bunk beds growing up and I wouldn't ever settle for the bottom bunk. Our room in the house we lived in at the time had a window directly beside the top bunk. One night I started screaming and my moms boyfriend ran into my and calmed me down, afterwards he glanced out my window (it was covered with a blanket so he moved it aside) and than left my room in a hurry. The next day I told my mom that I had seen a Minotaur outside my window and she told me that her boyfriend told her the same thing after he got back into bed from checking on me. Anyways that's all just proof of point and how my mom learned of what I go through, now we delve into the story behind the title.

It started when I was 5 and 1/3 years old. I was walking with my cousin to the store and back to pick something up. The time was about 9:00 and it had it had just started getting dark. We made it to the store and were on our way back when we noticed a hooded guy walking towards us. My cousin gripped my hand tighter and pulled me closer as we passed by. The sun hadn't set yet and street lights were starting to turn on so visibility was at least 1 mile. Despite the wonderful visibility this "thing" was pitch black and I'm not being racist. Do you know any black skinned people who are pitch black and translucent at the same time? I didn't think so, this was something beyond explanation and my cousin would agree. It's not over yet either.

When I was 10 and 2/3 old we lived in a 4 story house, 2 of which were underground, and my room was on the top floor. It was a rare occasion where me and my brother didn't sleep in the same room. The house's occupants were me, my brother, my sister, my mom, and my grandparents. Me, my brother, and my mom resided on the top floor, my sister was on first floor going down, and my grandparents were in the very basement. Almost every night (I heard him every time but he didn't do it every night) I would hear my grandpa climb both sets of stairs to the main floor to have a midnight snack. One night in particular there was no movement anywhere in the house (The walls were very thin and you could hear everything at night) but suddenly there were footsteps on the main floor. Not one pair, two pairs, my grandparents together? The footsteps started climbing the staircase to the top floor. There was only 3 bedrooms on the top floor nothing else, my room was at the end of a short hallway while my mothers and my brothers were at the top of the stairs. The footsteps went directly past both rooms and moved towards mine. I had been awake long enough to build natural night vision so I could make out everything in my room clearly. Being able to see everything made me not want to see whatever was coming to my room, I took cover under my blankets. Now would be a good time to mention that we couldn't afford a bed frame so my bed was on the floor. I peeked out from under my covers and my door slowly and quietly swung open and a pitch black yet oddly translucent human-like figure (sound familiar) crawled to the corner of my bed and stood up. A couple minutes passed (it felt like hours) and the figure simultaneously disappeared as the door swung shut very fast without making a sound. And it's still not over yet.

This next instance happened when I was16 years old. I started living with my grandma on my biological dads side. We lived in a small trailer on opposite ends of the trailer. My room was small and only fit a bed and a dresser, the bed was in the corner and my dresser was just beside it on the opposing wall facing my bed. It was night time again and I failed to fall asleep at a decent time for the thousandth time in my life. I sat up in my bed and crossed my legs, after I moved the pillows beside me I scootched up to the headrest and used it as a backrest. I sat there for a while and pondered things but I noticed something out of the corner of my eye. I looked down to the corner opposite my bed only to see the same pitch black yet translucent human-like figure sitting with its knees to its face like it was crying. I stared, puzzled and taken aback. That's when a numerous amount of them started gliding this way and that around my room, I sat in the same position and watched. The figure in the corner slowly stood up and suddenly glided towards me so quickly it was like a flash of darknes. All I remember after that is waking up in the mummy position with my hands over my chest and my blankets cocooned around me, even my pillows were more perfect than before I moved them. It wasn't a dream either, I have never remembered a dream and it is way too vivid of a memory.

Every 5 and 1/3 years (so far because I'm only 18) of my life I've seen these shadowy figures. I didn't think anything of them until I started doing research. I've come to the conclusion through my research they are something called The Djin; Shadow People. Some are harmless, some are violent (mine have all been harmless), all are creepy and I do recommend researching them yourselves.
