Anyone have Pop! Vinyls? I do. I got one for Christmas, sat with it in my room for a couple of months, and then went out and started buying more. Now, I find myself wanting the whole collection of Marvel ones, which is currently at 95 of them, and is constantly increasing as the MCU expands. Here's the thing, despite being in love with them and wanting more and more, I can't quite understand why I love them so much. What's the attraction? Here's the thing, this definitely isn't the first time that this has happened. We've seen plenty of things over the years that serve absolutely no purpose except being nice to look at, and yet are adored worldwide and sought after constantly. Why do we continue to buy them all the time? Well, I think there are a few reasons.
1. They're adorable!
Honestly, it happens all the time. Toy crazes over the past thirty years are mostly split between games consoles, and adorable toy ranges. Check out these examples.
Anyway, that terrifying look into the past shows that some of these cute little guys are so popular they get television shows! Pop! is just the next in this line, right? Wrong, they're better, which leads me to...
2. They use already established characters
What's the similarity between all the other cute toys I showed you? They were new characters that you had to get used to. Pop uses characters from every popular television show and film since the beginning of time. They've got "The dude" from the Big Lebowski, and they've got Jon Snow from Game of Thrones. They've got so many, that there is literally a set of them for anyone. My sister has Minions and Disney, my brother has Skipper from The Penguins of Madagascar, my friends have Game of Thrones, and I have Marvel. It's so easy to buy for someone, all you need to know is what they're interested in, and this brings me to...
3. They're affordable!
They cost ten pound. I, for one, needed to get my sister a birthday present, and left it until two days before her birthday. What do I do? I go on Amazon and start looking through merchandise related to her favourite films, and so much of it is so expensive! Pop! Vinyls are only a tenner, and this gives them a massive advantage over everything else out there! They're a massive company now, and are continuing to expand their line every minute!
I thoroughly look forward to expanding my own collection, and I'm now trying to figure out where I can put the lot of them!
