Hi there, I'm an illustrator specializing in pop culture portraits and from time to time I'll be sharing work that I hope might be of interest – here goes my first MoviePilot post!

I must have been 7 or 8 years old when my uncle kindly donated his early Marvel comics to me. It wasn’t a massive collection, but I do know I’m not exaggerating when I say that reading them, seeing them and positively feeling every single exciting panel of them changed my life. They were mostly Spider-Man comics, mostly drawn by the brilliant John Romita Senior, and I was enthralled. Already drawing a lot at that point, I can still remember how inspired I was to increase my output.

That flame has stayed lit ever since, and as such, many years later, it was a huge honor to be invited to contribute to the official Marvel Avengers: Age of Ultron exhibition at Hero Complex Gallery alongside numerous talented artists. The show opened a few weeks ago in Los Angeles, the week before the movie opened in the US, but the same week it opened in the UK, so weirdly I was flying out to the show and missing the movie that otherwise I would no doubt have been seeing on day one!

Over the last couple of years I’ve participated in several pop culture group shows in Los Angeles, and been very close to booking a flight out to an opening night on several occasions, yet never going through with it. I felt that if I didn’t head out there for this, then I never would, and I’m so glad I did. It was fantastic to finally meet several artists that I’ve shared exhibition space with in the past. Then, seeing all the hard work that the Hero Complex team put into the show throughout, from the planning stages, through the approval process, to the physical act of getting all the work up (and balanced) on the gallery walls, was incredibly inspiring.
