After hitting the headlines for discontinuing her 'breatharian' diet of water and air to hit the gym and bulk up after a brutal attack, The Ukrainian real life Barbie, Valeria Lukyanova, is once again back to what she does best. Courting controversy.
In a move that surprised absolutely nobody, the self-styled astral projection expert has admitted to photoshopping her photos to achieve her extreme model of 'perfection.'
The 29-year-old previously claimed that she did not use Photoshop to alter her images and that she had only had breast augmentation surgery, she told V Magazine that:
"Many people say bad things about people who want to perfect themselves. It’s hard work, but they dismiss it as something done by surgeons or computer artists. This is how they justify not wanting to strive for self-improvement. It’s how they explain their continued inaction. It’s just an excuse. There are plenty of video clips on the Internet showing what I really look like. Some people even spread rumors about me and retouch my pictures to hurt me. But I don’t take them seriously. I’m even flattered! It’s what success is like. I’m happy I seem unreal to them, it means I’m doing a good job."
Now however, Lukyaova has done an about turn and told Cosmopolitan Magazine that (at least her latest images) have been altered to iron out 'imperfections,' she explained:
"The pictures are Photoshopped to achieve smoothness and color correction. The pictures were taken in the botanical garden on the phone. They were not high quality. I had to edit them in order to correct the defects of the phone picture."
It's speculated that Lukyaova made these admissions after leaving some telltale photoshop errors in her latest set of snaps as you can see in the blurred blond hair on her left in the image below:
Although anyone who points out the fakery in Lukyanova's painstakingly crafted image are just jealous, apparently. Valeria told Cosmo that:
"Those who are unsatisfied with what I do and critique me and offend me clearly don't have the same figure as I do. Otherwise they would not be so negative. They are openly jealous."
Valeria Lukyanova has previously drawn criticism from eating disorder organisations for implying that her impossible figure is achievable through diet and exercise.
While there's no denying that Lukyanova is a beautiful and slim woman, these pictures from a few years ago are a more realistic representation of what she probably looks like.
Lukyanova's own personal videos of her gym workouts show that she has definitely gained a lot of bulk from her former skeletal self, but the healthy reality of her shape is a stark difference to the photoshop images she presents to the public.
Valeria has previously claimed that her global fame is more to do with her spiritual goodness than her external appearance by saying:
“People don’t understand that it has nothing to do with looks. There are many good-looking young women, but why are they completely unknown? Because looks are just a bonus. If you spend time working only on your appearance and you forget about your inner self, people will not be interested in you because they will not feel anything. Many people think you need only good looks to be successful, but it’s not true—only spiritual work can bear tangible results"
However, it's hard not to find this statement sad looking at the way Valeria spends hours obsessing over and altering her appearance when she is clearly beautiful just the way she is.
