The girls of the Barden Bellas proved that they're well deserving of their three national titles this weekend when Pitch Perfect 2 pulled in a massive $70.3 million at the box office! This is even more impressive when you take into account that the amount is $5 million more than the lifetime domestic gross of the original Pitch Perfect!
What adds to Pitch Perfect 2's amazing effort is the fact that the film was the directorial debut for actress Elizabeth Banks, making the musical comedy the second female-directed hit for Universal Pictures this year after Fifty Shades of Grey brought in a huge $600 million (and counting) under the helm of director Sam Taylor-Johnson.
Get it, girls!
Pitch Perfect 2 followed all-girl acapella group the Barden Bellas as they attempt to win the world championships of acapella in order to ensure their future as a group after an embarrassing incident at the Lincoln Center. The film stars Anna Kendrick, Hailee Steinfeld Brittany Snow and Rebel Wilson and is in cinemas now!
