First off, I have to say, the acting, stunts and effects in this episode were amazing. This finale really raised the bar for the future of comicbook shows on TV. It may not have been full of action and fighting, but what it lacked in action for the first half hour, it made up for it in gut-wrenching emotional scenes between the characters and wicked easter eggs, that had comic readers, like myself, jumping in our seats. This was a great finale to end a great season of The Flash.

The Flash Museum

We actually got our first view of the Flash museum. Although for a few seconds, we finally got to see it. In the comics, the Flash museum was dedicated to the superheroes who share the alias as the Flash, and featured exhibits and trophies of the Flash's, which commemorate the Flash, and his battles against his foes. The Flash Museum also contained the Cosmic Treadmill. The cosmic treadmill was used by the Flash to travel through time.

Kendra Saunders a.k.a Hawkgirl

We got our first view of Kendra Saunders. Although many sources reported that the Legends of Tomorrow team would be set up in the Flash finale, it was nice to see Ciara Renee in character, as she witnessed the black hole.

Cisco was affected by the Particle Accelerator

In the comics, Cisco Ramon was the civilian name of the superhero Vibe and today, Eobard revealed that Cisco was a metahuman. Eobard said he wasn't sure until Cisco revealed that he could see "through the vibrations of the universe". Eobard then says that "A great and honorable destiny awaits you now". This most likely refers to him becoming a superhero and eventually joining the Justice League. It also served as an explanation of how Cisco could remember his death in the other timeline even though the timeline had been changed. Due to this reveal, I'm sure we'll see Vibe soon enough on the Flash, whether it is next season or later seasons.

Barry's in Jail?

Not much to say, except Barry's in jail in a not so attractive future for Barry Allen

Rip Hunter and the Time Sphere

Rip Hunter was mentioned by Eobard, when inspecting the Time Sphere. Rip Hunter is also one of the main characters of the new show, "Legends of Tomorrow". Rip Hunter uses the time sphere to travel through time and space. It was a nice name-drop, for a soon-to-be important character.

Caitlin Snow a.k.a Killer Frost

Probably the biggest and best moment out of all the images of the past, present and future that Barry saw, was the image of Caitlin Snow embracing her comicbook alter ego of Killer Frost. It is just another indication that the writers of the Flash sure know how to please their audience. In the comics, Caitlin Snow became killer frost while working at a Star Labs outpost. The Star Labs outpost in the Arctic was attacked by HIVE agents. The end result was Caitlin ripped off the coolant system merging her body with the ice and resulting in the constant need to gain heat. The only person capable of curing her need for heat is Firestorm, Ronnie Raymond, who she just got married to. It is still to be seen whether she turns into her cold-blooded comic book counterpart, in the second season, later seasons or in the show's run. But if the Flash has proven anything, it is that it will honor the comics and Caitlin Snow in a way that has not been shown in live-action as of yet

Jay Garrick's helmet

Jay Garrick was teased many episodes ago, when we say "Garrick's Wharf", and that led many to speculate whether Jay Garrick was the Flash in this timeline. With no indication of a previous Flash or speedster prior to the particle accelerator, it would seem unlikely that Garrick is a Flash in their timeline. However I find it quite interesting that Eobard teased that he knew what it was. My theory is that Eobard changed something so that the Jay Garrick of this timeline did not become the Flash, and that left an opening for Barry to become the Flash ten years earlier. The fact that we saw Jay's hat, opens up the possibility of Earth-2 and Barry visiting another dimension, where Jay Garrick is the Flash. Earth-2 may also introduce us to the other members of the Justice Society of America, such as Green Lantern, Doctor Fate and a version of Wildcat, with the full costume.

Future Flash with the white logo

Throughout the season, we have only seen glimpses and one picture, from the newspaper, of the future Flash. But today, we saw him and his costume quite clearly, as he instructed the younger Flash not to interfere. As I went across places like IGN for a review of the episode, I saw many people, in the comments, ask why Barry didn't save his mother. The way I see it, he didn't do anything because his future self told him to stop. As many comic book fans would know, young Barry was very wise to listen to himself. Why would older Barry not want younger Barry to save his mother? Because of Flashpoint. Older Barry knows something Younger Barry doesn't. If Barry saved his mother, it would result in a time boom, causing ripples through time itself and changing the timeline for the worse. The world would be in all out war and consequences would be dire. Good thinking by the writers, for saving this for a later season and not using a great storyline too early.

Eddie makes a hero's sacrifice

This was the best way for Eddie Thawne's character to come out as a hero, as he died while saving Barry, the Star Labs crew and most importantly, Iris. He saved her from dying at the hands of Eobard. But his sacrifice will have ramifications on the whole universe. Because Eddie died, Eobard no longer exists, and Barry's mother wouldn't be killed by Eobard. The black hole was destroying the timeline, because it was a paradox now. This all happened because Eddie killed himself. But I don't think that is the last we will see of Eddie. Interestingly enough, the time sphere had cobalt in it? Eobard mentioned it. The time sphere and Eddie's body were the first objects to be sucked into the black hole. Could that be teasing Cobalt Blue in the future or am I reading too deeply into this? Only time will tell. As for Eobard, I'm not sure we've seen the last of him either. The reverse Flash is to the Flash, what the Joker is to Batman, what Moriarty is to Sherlock and what Merlyn is to the Arrow. Every hero needs a villain, and a villain like Eobard Thawne, the Reverse Flash, is too good a villain to be dead. Eobard will be back and out for blood, whether it is through flashpoint or another dimension.

Season 2 - Everything we know so far

Tom Cavanaugh is Returning

That's right. Executive Producer Andrew Kreisberg confirmed that Tom Cavanaugh would return next season and be a series regular. He could be playing either the real Harrison Wells or Eobard Thawne, how that would work in the show, has not been revealed just yet

Season 2 will show Earth-1, Earth-2 and different dimensions

Grant Gustin revealed that Season 2 will show these new things that have not yet been tackled in Season 1. Gustin said, "What's fun about this show is that there's going to be multiple timelines as we move forward. I think we're going to start showing Earth-One and Earth-Two in the near future. There will be kind of different dimensions going on." This could also mean we get to see new versions of characters that have already been introduced this season. For example, Eddie Thawne could be Cobalt Blue on Earth-2, Caitlin could be Killer Frost and Cisco could already be Vibe.

New Speedsters and New Villains

Andrew Kreisberg said ""We are going to introduce a few more speedsters next year and a bunch more villains. How they and those villains come about is part of the surprise of season two. We're really excited. Greg and myself and Geoff Johns and the writers, the cast, the crew, the directors — we are so proud of this season of television. It really is a high mark for all of us and we feel a great deal of pressure and anxiety to live up to it, because it's been so well received. As proud as excited as we are about everything we've done this year, we really are just as proud and excited for all the things we are planning coming up and hopefully people will continue to take this ride with us."

There you have it, an amazing finale for a very good first season of the Flash. Hopefully they keep up the high quality that they have started. Hope you enjoyed my article and if you have any questions, please leave a comment.
