In a bizarre turn of events, and a legal case that no one ever could of imagined, DC comics are set to fight pop-superstar Rihanna as she attempts to trademark her real name 'Robyn'.

Rihanna's full birth name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty, and back in 2014 the Barbados babe, via her company Roraj Trade, filed a trademark request for the title 'Robyn' to use for her upcoming fashion and cosmetic range. As you can imagine, DC weren't too happy at a major company having a closely related name to one of their most popular characters. Batman's sidekick and fan favourite, Robin.

The lawyers and creators at DC attempted to block the singers request, stating grounds that many may be duped into thinking that her new range would have ties to their boy wonder!

DC formally submitted a legal challenge with the United States Trademark and Patent Office, arguing the name is “identical and/or highly related” to their own Robin and “is likely to cause confusion, cause mistake, or to deceive the public” into thinking the two are connected. Rihanna and her company have 40 days to respond to the legal challenge, and if neither side can come to an agreement it looks like we will see an interesting battle for what differentiates 'Robyn' to 'Robin'.
