I have been a big fan of the silent hill franchise from the very first game. I've spent countless hours on late nights playing the games in the dark with the sound way up to give me some chills. But when I got silent hill downpour last year I'm sad to say that I was deeply disappointed. Konami changed up the gameplay quite a bit. And it upset me. I was so used to that same silent hill feel. Don't get me wrong, it's a great game. If you haven't played any of the silent hill games you probably would love this game. But being that I've played every silent hill game it actually came out as more of a disappointment. Here is what disappointed me:

1. The gameplay style was changed. Instead of having a weapon inventory, you have to CONSTANTLY either backtrack or search very careully for a weapon you need to proceed and if you need another weapon you drop the weapon you have which may turn out to be a weapon you need later.

2. Quite a few holes in plot making it hard to keep wanting to play.

3. None of the classic enemies that you love like nurses, schisms, or bloodhounds. Of course we would love to have new monsters as well but we also rely on a few returns of classic monsters as well to give it the same feel.

4. The story is really choppy and honestly looks like it was just rushed into production.

This game isn't a bad game. Overall it can still be a fun experience. But coming from someone who has played all of the silen hill games' perspective. It's honestly disappointing to see how it turned out. Have a different opinion? Leave it in the comment section below.
