Tomorrow is Red Nose Day in the USA, and Peter Dinklage joins the huge cast of stars who will be involved in the bi-annual charity fundraiser show and celebration with a hilarious Game Of Thrones ditty.

But before we get to the good stuff (for those who didn't scroll directly to the video), what is Red Nose Day? While it's a long-running (started in 1988) tradition in the UK, this nationwide charity event is relatively new on this side of the pond, and many North Americans may be a little confused about all these celebrities wearing clown noses for charity.

Red Nose Day is run by Comic Relief, a UK based charity that works to end poverty and social injustice worldwide (although the main focus has always been in the UK and Africa). Money raised by the charity goes to raising awareness of certain issues as well as directly to help poverty-stricken areas.

In Africa

Here, Comic Relief has used money raised by Red Nose Day (as well as regular donations and grants) to build schools and provide Malaria vaccines as well as healthcare to those affected by HIV. They also helped fund the Legal Resources Center in South Africa, which has worked with many cases, most notably the 1996 return of land taken during apartheid to the people of Elandskloof.

In the UK

Closer to home, the charity works to remove the stigma of mental illness through the Time To Change campaign, and helped establish the National Domestic Violence Hotline, a free resource to help those who are living with domestic violence. They have worked extensively to help those at risk of sexual exploitation or trafficking, helping to fund over 17000 projects since their inception.

In the US

The US Red Nose Day raises money to help lift people in the US and developing nations out of poverty, and goes to support twelve different charitable organizations: Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Charity Water, Children's Health Fund, Feeding America, Gavi The Vaccine Alliance, The Global Fund, LIFT, National Council of La Raza, National Urban League, Oxfam America, Save The Children and United Way.

Red Nose Day aims to raise money by harnessing the power of entertainment, with a show packed with celebrities as well as information on the good work that they do. The general idea is to get people smiling, get them happy, and at the same time raise some awareness and a LOT of money. Tomorrow, the US Red Nose Day show will be on ABC at 8/7 central, and I encourage everyone to tune in, or just head to the website to watch hilarious videos like this one and donate something to a worthy cause.

Now that you know what the cause is about... let's see Peter Dinklage singing about the surprising longevity of his character Tyrion Lannister.

Who knew that he had pipes like that?! Amazing!
