The Fast Family have always shown each other unrelenting support on their various social media platforms, so it's not surprising that Tyrese Gibson recently posted some fan art with many of the major characters. However, the fan art features five of the actors in various scenes from military movies they have done, and some commenters are taking issue with the fact it was posted on Memorial Day.

Some folks have even unfollowed the actor that they previously adored, but is Tyrese's Instagram post really controversial? Let's take a look at why some fans are so fast to be furious.

Here's the photo in question:

This is the caption that accompanied the post:

Happy Memorial Day sending love and light....

So, Tyrese found this collage that features his co-stars in various war movies (for those interested: Vin Diesel in Saving Private Ryan, Paul Walker in Flags of Our Fathers, Michelle Rodriguez in Battle: Los Angeles, Tyrese in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, and Jordana Brewster in Annapolis). The commenters who took offense feel like Tyrese is using a day of remembrance to promote himself and his friends.

Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States meant to honor those who have died while serving in the armed forces. Many families and friends of fallen veterans see it as a somber occasion to grieve and remember the sacrifices of the military.

Those who published their criticisms have said the post was "narcissistic," "in bad taste," and "a slap in the face to the soldiers lost." Some have accused Tyrese of equating "playing dress up" with actual military service. Others worry that his tone is one of celebration as opposed to reverence, and the true spirit of Memorial Day is getting lost in the fun of barbecues and war movies.

Of course, there are plenty of fans coming to his defense, saying that this is a beautiful tribute to the troops that deserved it. Other stalwart fans claim that Tyrese is using his own experience to better understand the holiday and spreading that same message of Fast Family togetherness to all of his followers. Many claim that people are being overly sensitive and just looking for something to criticize.

So, now it's your turn to weigh in on Tyrese's Instagram post...

Was Tyrese's Memorial Day photo offensive, beautiful, or something else entirely?
