There are many, many more but all of the above quotes are quite common. How do you know if a quote is real? Look for a source. All real quotes have sources from Marilyn's time period. None of the quotes above have a source and they all started coming around in the last 10-15 years, when the internet was invented (gasp!). Most of these were created by 16 year old girls making memes.

Does it have a modern language pattern? Words like "drama" and phrases like "drink it down" were not used in the 1950's. Does it sound like something she would say? Marilyn wasn't a quote machine thinking that someone might possibly get her words forever tattooed 4 inches above their ass. Most of her quotes sound like interview excerpts being that's what they are.

Another common fake is "Imperfection is beauty, Madness is genius..." Marilyn was a known perfectionist. She would spend hours getting ready because of this. She didn't think imperfections were beautiful being she wanted to look and act perfectly. Her mother suffered from mental illness and ended up being committed. She was horrified that she would end up this way. No way would she think that "madness is genius".

The moral of the story? Research before you declare someone your idol and especially before you get a tattoo of their "quote".
