DC and Warner Bros. still have “Shazam!” slated for a 2019 release. That wouldn't be so accurate however, based on reports from those taking Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson's statement incorrectly. Per Dwayne Johnson, there seems to be a POSSIBILITY we will get the film earlier. In “Shazam” Dwayne Johnson is set to play a character named Black Adam, a villain of sorts, or anti-hero sometimes. Recently he commented on the unique nature of the character’s history which adds to the complicated nature of his villainous behavior.

Some sites are exaggerating Dwayne Johnson’s statements to imply that the film is coming sooner, and some are quoted to be saying “long before 2019″. Which isn’t what he said at all. He simply said “I don’t think it is going to be that far away. It’s going to be earlier than that. I don’t think 2019.” Twice he says “I THINK”. He could be mistaken as such a statement protects him from.

I don’t know if it will come out that the release date is moved up but right now I am far from expecting that. If it was because of Dwayne’s schedule that prevented an earlier release, perhaps his schedule has changed or might change. I do think with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson playing the role, the project became highly anticipated for fans and any date earlier than announced would be appreciated.

I think DC did a good job so far in casting Black Adam, but for a film called “Shazam!” I’d expect to have seen the role for Shazam found first. My assumption is that DC identified with his excitement to be a part of their universe and found a role that fit their schedule and his appearance. Can’t wait to see his portrayal.
