Uncharted 4 was one of my most anticipated titles of 2015. Sadly, this year was just a little too packed with great games that couldn't support their initial release date claims. We have [Tom Clancy's The Division](tag:2684169), Dead Island 2, Quantum Break and The Legend of Zelda Wii U moving to 2016 to name a few, but Uncharted 4 was the biggest hit to have to take. Though now with The Witcher 3 taking over my life, it's hard to imagine playing anything else in 2015.
But onwards and upwards as they say, and I'm sure that Naughty Dog had exceptionally good reasons to postpone the release date of Uncharted 4 for the PS4 - can't wait. But one aspect of the game that a lot of gamers are excited for, aside from the epic Nathan Drake plot we have in store, is Uncharted 4's multiplayer. But what kind of improvements would players like to see happen to Uncharted 3's formula? And should The Last of Us influence it in any way?
Uncharted 4: Multiplayer Improvements & Gameplay Influences from The Last of Us
We've already had the discussion of how The Last of Us should influence Uncharted 4 - which if you haven't chimed in on we'd love to hear your opinion! But we haven't really tackled its multiplayer mode. The Last of Us actually has a really enjoyable multiplayer dynamic, I think anything with players firing a bow and arrows a lot more frequently than guns is more interesting anyway!
But in terms of the actual Uncharted series, I was never that happy with Uncharted 3's multiplayer mode - purely due to the fact that I have a serious issue with Uncharted's gunplay. If they're going to improve one aspect of the series over everything else, it needs to be the aiming system, which has never felt very precise. But seeing as Uncharted 4 seems to be including new gameplay features, such as the grapple hook, I wonder whether they could make their way online.
What Do You Want for Release Date?
Nathan Drake has never really been a bow and arrow kind of guy. He's an action hero that loves to use his guns, so I'm not sure whether this weapon really works in the context of the series. But we've seen Tomb Raider make it work and even Crysis 3. Bows are much more fun to use in games than guns and I'd love to see them join Uncharted 4's multiplayer dynamic!
But the game certainly needs more maps than Uncharted 3 had. More verticality, better aiming and improved customisation wouldn't go astray either. But what's the one big change you'd like to see in Uncharted 4 in terms of its multiplayer mode? Be sure to let us know in the comments!
