For many of us, with Nina Dobrev's exit from The Vampire Diaries at the end of Season 6, it seems that the show has been plunged into an unknown abyss. All over, fans are asking the questions: What does her departure mean for the show? Is there a bright future? What comes next?

Well, it seems that we aren't the only ones, as Paul Wesley is also unsure.

Speaking in LA last Saturday, he said:

"I have no idea what they're going to do next year, literally. Apparently they have a plan. I don't know what the plan is. It's going to be really interesting. It will be interesting to see what they come up with for the brothers."

Either way though, he confirmed that:

"Obviously there's a great nostalgia. It’s never going to be the same."

Yet, many of us are wondering: Could Dobrev's exit throw the show into such flux, that it would spark a further round of departures?

As far as we know, front-runners such as Paul and his on-screen brother Ian Somerhalder could also be considering bidding The Vampire Diaries a final farewell. And the worst thing is, when it comes to this, Paul does not silence our fears:

"I think everything has to come to an end, man. First of all I'm playing a 17-year-old. I'm 32 years old. [...] So theoretically, if I were to stay on the show for say three more years, I would be a 35 year old playing a 17-year-old, which is almost double. It's more than double. It's literally more than double!"

If you think about it, that would be kind of weird, wouldn't it?
