Let the geek hate begin! All of us were surprised when old-fogey CSI rehashers announced they were getting on the superhero gravy train with a Supergirl TV show. Probably most of us had low expectations, too, which can help the final product...but whatever the reason, this show looks GOOD.
I'm looking forward to Batman vs Superman, but I have a lot of problems with Snyder's Superman in Man of Steel, issues that could easily have been resolved. Supergirl seems set to address those issues in its own fun way. She's human, she has a life, she's excited about her superpowers and passionate about becoming a hero...and there's still room for military distrust and ARGUS/CADMUS type storylines!
And...the big reveal? She saves a plane, a la John Byrne's Man of Steel miniseries, lifted by Superman Returns to easily become that movie's most exciting scene.
Time will tell, but I think CBS got this right: an all-ages comic book show with humor, action and a charismatic female lead. This could be this generation's Linda Carter Wonder Woman, a strong, yet vulnerable (read: "human") role model for girls and boys.
