Recent ramblings have suggested that Chris Pine may be playing Hal Jordan in the DC Cinematic Universe, but now it sounds as though the Star Trek star is currently in negotiations to play Steve Trevor in the upcoming Wonder Woman solo movie.

Warner Bros. has yet to comment on this news.

In the comics, Steve Trevor was an intelligence officer in the United States Army during World War II whose plane crashed on Paradise Island, the home of the Amazons. He was nursed back to health by Diana, who falls in love with the man and follows him to the outside world upon his recovery. Soon afterwards, she takes up re identity of Diana Prince and her superheroine alter ego, Wonder Woman.

Set for release in 2017, Wonder Woman stars Gal Gadot as the titular heroine. Patty Jenkins is directing the solo film for Warner Bros. from a script by Jason Fuchs. Charles Roven is serving as executive producer alongside Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder.

Previous rumors suggested Trevor was the role Scott Eastwood Wold be playing in David Ayer's Suicide Squad, but it looks as though this is not the case, leaving Eastwood's role in the 2016 DC Cinematic Universe entry currently unknown.
