Watching morning cartoons has undoubtedly been as big a part of your childhood as it has been mine. Getting up early, tip toeing past your parents' bedroom, fixing a bowl of cereal and switching on the TV was a weekend morning rite of passage, and you know what? I sometimes still join my younger cousins to watch a few episodes of cartoons when the mood strikes.
Watching old episodes of childhood favorite cartoons is always imbued with a great feeling of nostalgia for me (not to mention the memory of eating over-sugared cornflakes), which is why I found these cosplaying outfits of 2000s cartoons (and a few that started in the '90s and ran until the '00s) so awesome. Check them out for yourself and see if don't find yourself humming along to the catchy intro music:
The Recess crew
Running from 1997-2001 I loved the crazy antics that T.J., Spinelli and the crew got up to during their recess breaks. I'm also convinced that the character of Randall in the series was the inspiration for the monster Randall in Monsters, Inc. - any one else think they're pretty similar?
The Fairly OddParents
It started way back in 2001, but The Fairy OddParents is still going strong after the series was revived in 2007, and for good reason! I love this Cosmo and Wanda cosplay, they look so perfect - right down to the hats!
The Rocket Power crew
From 1999-2004 the Rocket Power crew ruled the screens, and I have to admit this was definitely one of my favorite shows, they just all seemed so cool. Plus, having Tito as a philosopher-type to give advice seemed pretty fun. I love the dedication in this cosplay - they all look like they're ready to hit the streets and skate.
The Proud Family
The Proud Family ran from 2001-2005 and had a whole host of awesome characters. You have to hand it to these cosplayers - their pose imitation is on point!
The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius
Who could forget the 2002-2006 series about the boy genius with one hell of a good head of hair: Jimmy Neutron! I'm totally impressed with how this cosplayer managed to nail the hair style of the boy-genius, I hate to think how much hair product they used!
This long running series started way back in 1996 and finally ended in 2004. Arnold with his pet pig, whacky group of friends and amazing bedroom was always a firm fave of mine and I love how this cosplayer used cardboard to really nail Arnold's football head. I can only imagine how many times he was told to 'move it, football head' throughout the day!
He even has the thumbs up ready to go in for the handshake with Arnold!
Helga still looks like her angry self in this cosplay, and I love that not only does she have her trademark bow and monobrow, but also her loveheart framed picture of Arnold, aw!
Ed, Edd, 'n' Eddy
For 10 years from 1999-2009 we joined the three Ed's and their antics, and these three cosplayers look pretty perfect with their costuming - especially with Eddy and Ed's hair!
The Kanker Sisters
The scary Kanker sisters have never looked more perfect than in this cosplay. I hope that the girl who cosplayed May had a pair of buck teeth handy, as well!
Grim from The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy
Poor Grim was tormented by Billy and Mandy from 2001 until 2007 in The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, and there's not much else to say but that this cosplay is brilliant!
Samurai Jack and Aku
This Samurai Jack comes complete with katana - Aku better watch himself standing that close to the blade!
Aang from Avatar: The Last Airbender
This Aang cosplay looked beyond amazing - I'd really love to know if they shaved their head for this to complete the look, because if so, that's massive dedication!
Jenny from My Life as a Teenage Robot
Can you say 'nailed it'?! This is definitely one of the best Jenny cosplays I've ever seen - can you imagine how long it took to make that hair bow? I would have been so frustrated, but this cosplayer has done an amazing job.
Zim and Gir
Ah look at Gir's little tongue hanging out - mega cute! Zim is also rocking it, though I have to say that I think if this cosplay version of Zim was a real member of the Irken race they might have a better shot of being an Irken leader than the real Zim!
Those glasses, that hair - definitely a perfect Dib cosplay!
Pepper Ann and Nicky
Pepper Ann only just nudged into the 2000s, running from 1997 until 2000 but I couldn't leave this cosplay out because it looks so awesome, I mean how perfect is that long curly red hair! Definitely much too cool for 7th Grade.
Running from 2002-2007 Kim Possible was a totally fab, girl-power centric show about Kim, a high school girl who is also casually saving the world from villains. I love that this cosplay is not only both Kim and Ronald, but also involves Rufus - Ron's naked mole-rat!
The villainess Shega has never looked so good as in this cosplay!
