Another reveal from Annie Leibovitz' Star Wars: The Force Awakens Vanity Fair shoot has appeared online, this time seeing Andy Serkis in full motion-capture gear looking quite villainous.

Supreme Leader Snoke

His character has been revealed as Supreme Leader Snoke. To me, that obviously sounds like a man in control of this new Empire, or the First Order, as they're now titled. Perhaps he is the cloaked figure we see at the back of this shot in the trailer?

I think we all already assumed that Andy Serkis would be in motion-capture for his role here, after all, it's what he's known for. Bringing CGI characters to life such as Gollum (Lord Of The Rings), Caeser (Planet Of The Apes) and even King Kong (King Kong). Serkis did have a small role in Avengers: Age Of Ultron as a human character called Ulysses Klaw with no motion-capture technology involved, but I believe he was added into the cast because he helped Mark Ruffalo perfect his Hulk motion-capture work.

Could He Be More Than One Character?

A lot of us theorized that Serkis would be playing the highly rumored Darth Plagueis in the film, does this news put that rumor to rest? Or, maybe, this is another situation like Emperor Palpatine who fronted himself as a man of politics but secretly he was Darth Sidious? There is also a possibility that Serkis is playing two roles, one of the advantages of motion-capture technology is that actors can take on a completely different looking character, perhaps Serkis is playing two characters in the film?

I do happen to think that Plagueis will be in the film, but whether or not Serkis is playing him is a different story altogether.

Remember the staff that we see Rey holding in the second teaser? Well... that looks an awful lot like Darth Plagueis' Lightsaber.

They do look similar, don't they? And whether or not this means Plagueis is in the film or not, I don't know, but there is a definite chance we may hear of his character sometime in the film.

Kylo Ren's Mission

Rumors and speculation around the web suggest that Adam Driver's Kylo Ren is a Sith Relic Hunter, scouring the galaxy for the rarest of Sith artifacts. In the trailer we see Darth Vader's helmet, Kylo Ren's mask bears a lot of resemblance to Darth Revan's mask and his Lightsaber doesn't look completely stable. Perhaps one of the artifacts that Ren is hunting for is Darth Plagueis' staff, which leads Rey into the trouble we see her in during the trailer.

Anyway guys, let me know your thoughts on Andy Serkis' character in the comments below or on Twitter @JamesPorter97.
