To start off, I love DC Comics. I think they have great characters, great stories, and great potential. There is only one thing that keeps being criticized; Movies. Batman remains the most successful adaption of a DC hero to this date, with Man of Steel being so-so by many and Green Lantern..... Let's just skip him.
Starting next year with Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice, DC will start its own shared superhero universe, which will no doubt be amazing. After all, superheroes have taken the world by storm recently. So, without further ado, let's examine the DC movie slate that's been mapped out for us, starting with:
Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice
Starring Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, Aquaman, and Lex Luthor. DC's first project will bring Batman back to the big screen, this time portrayed by Ben Affleck, and have him square off against Henry Cavill's Superman. Also joining the fray are three members of the new Justice League and a classic comic book villain. You can read my thoughts on this movie here.
DC's Suicide Squad came totally unexpected, I really didn't think it would happen. The films stars all the villains above (Left to Right: Slipknot, Captain Boomerang, Enchantress, Katana, Rick Flag, Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Killer Croc, El Diablo) Not pictured is the Joker, making his DCCU debut in this film and Amanda Waller. Interestingly enough, this film could be very important to the DCCU. The Joker, Harley Quinn, and Killer Croc are Batman foes, which could lead them into a Batman solo movie as well as setting up potential Batman stories. Captain Boomerang could set up The Flash's solo film. The other villains aren't that well known, so maybe they set up separate villains and heroes in the DCCU. Batman is already rumored to make an appearance, and it is the first Villain-Team-Up movie we've seen.
After a long wait, this film can finally be a reality:
Justice League Pt. 1
Justice League has been prolonged forever, and it is finally time to them up on the big screen. The heroes above seem like the team that we'll be seeing by the time it rolls around. However, this is only Part 1. Justice League will be divided into two parts, but why? The possibilities are endless. Maybe the Justice League ends with the main villain, probably Darksied or Brainiac, splitting the team and sending several of them to different places. This one seems to make the most sense to me because of the three movies in between this and Part 2. Batman V. Superman will probably have a major hand in setting this movie up, mainly because of the heavy presence of heroes in the movie. It could cut time off of origin stories in the Part 1. Another theory I have involves Vandal Savage being the main villain, and causing the heroes to relive horrific events in their past.
Anyhow, after a probable cliffhanger in Part 1, we get:
Wonder Woman could probably pull off her own movie for a number of reasons that I'm not going to list here cause it would be too long, but it's fantastic that DC is actually going ahead with it (Unlike Marvel who still haven't given us a Black Widow Movie :/ ). Many theories pop up here, none of them involve an origin story. Wonder Woman will be fully introduced in BvS, so why go through her origin in a two-hour long movie when we've already met the character? Well, I think it should be an origin. I don't want DC's Justice League to be like the Avengers, where they get together in the first film, go there separate ways and have solo films, and then mysteriously just reunite in the second film. I want Justice League to stay established throughout the movie universe. If this is an origin, Vandal Savage could be involved, where he makes the Justice League relive horrible events, or their past. Wonder Woman's would involve a battle on Amazon against Ares and his forces. IF this isn't an origin, then I have another idea. Maybe the invasion force of (Insert Villainous Conqueror Here) branches out across the world, causing Wonder Woman to leave and protect her home from Ares, who has teamed up with Conqueror and wants to end Amazon. That story also explains the next movie:
Aquaman is also getting set up in BvS, but this idea relates to Wonder Woman's. Say (Insert Villainous Conqueror Here) attacks Atlantis after branching out. This would be a cause for the King of Atlantis to go home and away from surface dwellers to fight Conqueror and his evil brother Ocean Master (Matthew Mconaughey?) to save his home world. This could be a great opportunity for Aquaman to silence all the haters out there. His film could take place underwater for the whole time, and they could bring his telepathic fish talking to life. Ocean Master would be a great choice for a villain, but then it's kind of Thoring (Terrible Pun I Know) and would kind of be the "Under appreciated brother wants to take over the kingdom" cliche. The other villain that can be brought is Black Manta, and a whole new story with him. So many chances for this film, but the next film is strangely out of place even with the predictions I've made:
Whoa, where did he come from. Wonder Woman and Aquaman can both go protect their kingdoms, but Flash doesn't have one. So what happens here? Maybe he works with the other heroes to find a way to stop (Insert Villainous Conqueror Here), but then it would be Flash and His Amazing Friends. So what is happening? I've come up with two theories. The first involves Batman sending Barry off to collect items to stop Conqueror, but he runs into (Insert Rogue Here) who is trying to sell the parts to people because the planet is in panic that the world is ending. It's a race between good and evil to find the parts and get them back in time. That is the boring theory, the second one takes a wacky twist. While battling conqueror, Barry runs really fast to try and stop him, but his speed combined and energy ray or something by Conqueror sends him into a future where Conqueror has one and the Earth is in ruins. Working with future survivors (Booster Gold anyone?) he must reconstruct a time machine to go back to his time and prevent events from happening. Please, if a time traveling story is involved, I don't want Reverse-Flash, only because Tom Cavanagh was spectacular. He is Reverse-Flash for me now, so no recast please!
So after all of this happens, then:
Justice League Pt. 2
If the three previous movies are not origins, then the team will most likely get back together in this movie and pick up their act. I see it being full of action as they try to send the invasion force spiraling away and winning the day. At the end, maybe a Hall of Justice/Watchtower, member recommendations, and other things could tie this movie to the rest of the DCCU.
After the first gargantuan battle of the Justice League, we get to see:
This is interesting because the main villain has been cast, but no hero yet. SHAZAM has been confirmed to be separate from the other movies, so this is most possibly an origin story. It could set up SHAZAM perfectly for other appearances, as well as clue in the next big baddie for DCCU. The wizard himself could be ancient, and sense a dark force is coming to threaten Earth, and Shazam is needed to protect it. Upon hearing that Batson is the new mighty mortal, Black Adam could awaken after a long slumber to come and challenge him.
No Hector Hammond, no Parralax, no Evil Sinestro hint after the credits, and NO CGI MASK! This needs to be a straight up reboot to the character. After Part 2 of JL, I see Green Lantern going off world with (Insert Villainous Conqueror Here) to put him on Oa, where things go awry once former Lantern Sinestro attempts to bring Conqueror to Mystery Villain (Hinted in SHAZAM) for Sinister purposes. The cause of that is an all out war between Green Lantern Corps and the newly formed Sinestro Corps. They could also be daring and include different spectrum's like Red Lanterns, Blue Lanterns, Indigo Tribe, and more to have an all out war between The Lanterns. One question is, which Lantern will we see as the main protagonist? John Stewart or Hal Jordan? You can see my thoughts on this here.
To wrap it all up, one final hero will get a stand alone movie:
I honestly don't know what will happen here. I'm so confused on what the story will be about. Maybe H.I.V.E will recruit Cyborg to stop Brother Blood from doing something bad, and on the way, Cyborg will learn secrets about his past? If you read the first link, you know I'm not a fan of Cyborg. I just don't like his character, so there's not much to talk about here.
