Many people, (myself included) have been following all the news surrounding Suicide Squad. And I've seen some reasons that this could be the greatest comic book film of all time.

So I've decided to share all of these reasons with all of you fellow fanboys.

The Stakes are High

In most comic book movies to date, there have been relatively low stakes. For example, in Guardians of the Galaxy, after Groot sacrificed himself to save the team, was there anyone who actually thought that he dead for good?

Likewise, in Avengers: Age of Ultron, there was no chance that one of the main 4 Avengers would die, due to there upcoming films and popularity. And yes, I understand that Quicksilver died, but honestly, who really cared??

However, in Suicide Squad, pretty much anyone (except for The Joker, Harley Quinn and probably Deadshot) can die at any time. Which is exciting because almost every character has a chance of dying, which gives the film an added sense of unpredictability.

Most of the Squad's deaths in comics either come from a mission gone wrong or when a team member tries to escape, in which case they promptly get their head blown off.

New and Fresh Characters

One of the aspects both audiences and critics agreed on about Guardians of the Galaxy was, due to the fact that average audiences and Marvel superfans alike had little or no knowledge of characters, brought a sense of freshness that the often formulaic superhero genre did not have.

The same principal should work here then, seeing as - with the exceptions of The Joker (and to a lesser extent Harley Quinn, Deadshot and Killer Croc) - most of the team is comprised of relatively unknown characters.

For example, walk up to someone on the street and ask them if they have any idea who El Diablo or Slipknot are, and I guarantee that they will have no idea who they are.

A Star-Studded Cast

One of the reasons many people are hyped about this movie is the star studded cast. From Jared Leto as The Clown Prince of Crime to Will Smith as The Man Who Never Misses, Suicide Squad is bursting with star power.

I was overjoyed when I first heard that Viola Davis had been cast as Amanda "The Wall" Waller. She has the perfect build for the part, and from what I've heard she's an amazing actress.

As far as I can tell, the only comic book movie with a similar cast is X-Men: Days of Future Past, and look how well that turned out.

It Leads Seamlessly Into the DCCU

With the DCCU as young as it is, it needs to expand very quickly if they wish to catch up to Marvel. A prime movie for expansion would be Suicide Squad.

For example, Jai Courtney's Captain Boomerang could show up as a member of the Rogues in 2018's The Flash. Likewise, The Joker, Harley Quinn and Killer Croc could all show up in a Batman movie sometime down the line.

What it means is that the writers don't have to use as much time setting up the character and his or her origins, which means that that more time can be devoted to characters that we don't know the origin of.

Well that's about it! Do you agree with me? Feel free to sound off in the comments!
