Pretty much a fan of all but if you come at me with horror I have a salt shaker and an iron rod and I'm not afraid to use them :D

I think I speak for most fans when I say that the Marvel universe, with its overlapping storylines and characters, has become simply marvellous (I’m sorry but I couldn’t help myself) and with ‘[Captain America: Civil War](tag:994409)’ as well as other Avenger related productions clearly in Marvel’s pipeline I cannot help but wonder why two Avengers in particular have yet to have their own origins films. Black Widow and Hawkeye, although lacking any superpowers, have proven, countless times, that they have earned their titles of Avengers and thus all the privileges that entitles them- like their own film.

Hawkeye
Hawkeye

Personally, I don’t understand why Marvel hasn’t put the Hawkeye and Black Widow origin stories near the top of their ‘to do’ list, considering so many fans have been anticipating such films ever since the first Avengers movie was released. And why shouldn't they? Seriously these two agents have helped save the world simply by using human brawn and wit. They aren't genetically enhanced by any serums or radiation (as far as we know anyway), they weren't born with god-like powers or any type of powers at all in fact. Their skill is achieved, not through technology, but through their own sweat and blood. And that is one of the many reasons we love them. They have proven that even an average human can become a hero. If that isn't reason enough to love them the complexity behind their characters is. There are two sides to these secret agents, the spies they portray and the humans we only catch glimpses of and it is these glimpses that really make these two characters so truly intriguing.

The Duo
The Duo

So why hasn’t any concrete information been released concerning two of Earth’s mightiest heroes? Marvel has revealed that they are avoiding the need to produce two more origin movies by revealing small glimpses of Hawkeye and Black Widow’s pasts trough unexpected revelations in the already existing Marvel Universe films. However, with every revelation, the fans are forced to ask even more questions about these two agents, causing their craving for an origins movie to continue to intensify. So could Marvel’s tactic be backfiring badly?

Black Widow
Black Widow

Probably.

So while Marvel continues to chew on the idea of a Black Widow and Hawkeye movie some fans of the duo have taken it upon themselves to answer some of their questions at the best of their ability, especially the one question that has been gnawing at the back of everyone’s mind for all these years;

What happened in Budapest?

This is one of the ultimate unanswered questions of the Marvel universe. Fans have speculated upon speculation on what could have happened, especially as it has been stealthily referenced in the first Avengers movie as well as in a cut scene from 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier'. Honestly, I believe fans would be satisfied with just a single movie merging the two Avengers’ origin stories together and ending possibly in a chance encounter happening in Budepest.

It seems that the fans have already got it all planned out…

The Poster

Potential Fan-made 'Budapest' poster
Potential Fan-made 'Budapest' poster

It is simply assumed that if a Black Widow and Hawkeye movie were to happen Scarlett Johansson and Jeremy Renner would reprise their respective roles along with their co-stars Samuel L Jackson, Ming-Na Wen and Clark Gregg as Nick Fury, Melinda May and Phil Coulson. This poster alone makes me anticipate an epic spy flick that would give even James Bond a run for his money.

The Trailer;

This fan-made trailer (courtesy of Elinor X) makes me wish even more that the film ‘Budapest’ was real. Inspired by a Tumblr post the opening and closing tune is a rather haunting Russian lullaby. Can’t you imagine Black Widow hauntingly singing this to a dying comrade (maybe a fellow victim of the red room?) as Hawkeye realises there is more to the woman before him than just a spy? The mere thought sends a shiver down my spine.

The opening sequence;

Yes, I know, marvel isn’t known for it’s opening sequences, it’s very 007 but they could make an exception if the opening sequence was as amazing as the one created by Youtuber Christopher Haley. Can’t you imagine it? Having the whole title sequence dedicated to Black Widow and then, as the title of the film appears at the very end, have a random arrow pierce one of the letters in the title? Personally, I think it would be fantastic.

Ok, so seriously, the fans pretty much have a Hawkeye and Black Widow film all planned out, all Marvel needs is a producer and director, they wouldn’t even need a script writer- the fans probably have that part covered as well.

Should they make a Black Widow and Hawkeye film/s?
