What is the next cinematic universe?

Looking at the success of Marvel and the MCU, it seems like every studio wants to cash in on this cash cow of the cinematic universe.

Marvel has had tremendous success showing off the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy in an interconnected universe on the big screen. They plan on continuing that with Ant-Man and [Captain America: Civil War](tag:994409). As of right now Marvel Studios is the only studio actually doing this, but that's soon gonna change. It seems like that every studio is either looking at their existing properties, or going back to old ones to create a cinematic universe.

Warner Bros./DC is coming out with Batman vs. Superman:Dawn of Justice to branch the universe out of Man of Steel, and then continue that with Suicide Squad. They're gonna give us movies based off Wonder Woman, Flash, Aquaman, Shazam, Cyborg, and Green Lantern. There is also Batman and a Man of Steel sequel that's being developed. Not to mention the Justice League films where they'll team up.

Disney has a plan to release a new Star Wars trilogy and spin-offs with one Star Wars-related movie a year starting with this years Star Wars: Force Awakens. They plan to continue with spin-offs centered on Han Solo, Boba Fett, and possibly Yoda.

Fox will branch out the X-Men universe even further with Deadpool, X-Men: Apocalypse, Gambit, X-Force, Wolverine 3 and New Mutants.

Universal will give us a monster universe based off of classic monsters like Dracula. They're gonna continue their universe with The Mummy in 2017 and continue from Dracula Untold.

Paramount has announced a Transformers universe with a Bumblebee spin-off. Lionsgate has said that they're looking into ways to continue The Hunger Games. The Lego Movie is pretty much already a cinematic universe with a Lego Batman and Ninjago, even though WB won't call it as such. Sony is creating a Ghostbusters universe with a female team of Ghostbuster leading the way next year, and Channing Tatum leading a male team that's in development. Not to mention the separate Robin Hood universes that Disney and Sony are creating. Arnold Schwarzenegger is gonna be in a Conan the Barbarian sequel that creates a cinematic universe. 21 Jump Street is also getting the cinematic universe treatment from Sony, with a female spin-off like Ghostbusters, 23 Jump Street, and a Men in Black crossover.

With all of these cinematic universes, one might wonder what else could be getting a universe. I want to know that answer. What is the next property getting a cinematic universe? It apparently isn't limited to any one kind of movie and will be an idea going around for a while, so let's come up with other ideas.

  • Nintendo
  • Mad Max
  • Looper
  • John Wick
  • Wreck-it Ralph
  • Pirates of the Caribbean

Well that's all I got for cinematic universe ideas.
