* * * Some spoilers for Game of Thrones, Season 5 Episode 7 below * * *
In true HBO fashion, Sunday night's episode of Game of Thrones started out with it's traditionally pivotal dialogue and political play over the Iron Throne. It was great, but nothing really exciting, that is until the final 15 minutes. The battle of Hardhome left fans everywhere screaming, cheering, and gasping at the fate of Jon Snow and the Wildling camp north of the Wall.
Just when you think Jon Snow's shockingly reasonable and unifying plea would bring some sense of solidarity between the Wildlings and the Night's Watch, all frozen Hell breaks loose when wights storm Hardhome. Who knew the White Walkers were such an organized army of the dead? Still, how cool is Valyrian steel?
In another, less shocking, turn of events, Cersei isn't doing well in prison. Meanwhile, Arya is making some progress with her Faceless training and Tyrion is sucessfully convinced Daenerys to keep him on as an advisor. Talk about a political power couple. I don't see how these two could fail to make it to the Iron Throne.
Given that the penultimate Game of Thrones episode usually packs a punch, paired with the fact that the episode is titled "The Dance of Dragons," I think we are in for an exciting Episode 9.
