Well just a few days ago there was a heavy rumor floating around stating that a sequel to the 80's cult classic, Big Trouble In Little China was going to be made by fox.

But today more news broke regarding the 80's favorite. And while it's true that the movie is gonna be returning to theaters soon, it won't be in the way of a sequel, but instead a remake. Here's what The Wrap had to say about this breaking news.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is in negotiations to star in and produce a remake of John Carpenter‘s cult classic “Big Trouble in Little China” that will be written by “X-Men: First Class” scribes Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz, multiple individuals familiar with the project have told TheWrap.

Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson is also a self proclaimed fan of the original, and is producing the movie. But the biggest news besides the revelation that movie is going to be a remake, is how 'The Rock' will play none other than..

I have very mixed feelings about this casting choice. Being a hardcore fan of the original it's hard to see someone besides Kurt Russell play the extremely arrogant, sarcastic, and witty protagonist, Jack Burton. On the other hand though, 'The Rock' seems to turn whatever movie he's in into a huge success. Which he again proved with the big release of his new movie 'San Andreas'

In addition to Jack Burton's role, there are many other parts that have to be cast correctly. Fan favorites like The three storms, Wang Chi, Egg Shen, Gracie Law, and Lo Pan all need to be cast perfectly.

No one from the original cast has had anything to say about this remake publicly, but I'm sure tons of people like myself would like to know what they have to say, especially legendary Director, John Carpenter. Who's not only made iconic cult classics like this one, but also Escape From New York, The Thing, They Live, and of course, Halloween.

All in all I am definitely eager to see how this remake turns out, and overall I'm glad the new generation gets to have some version of this great great film to see in theaters themselves.
