It has long been known that Robert Downey Jr is one of the best paid actors in Hollywood. But what does he do with his no doubt massive wads of cash? Well, what do you think? He becomes a real millionaire playboy.
It seems Robert Downey Jr is currently on his way to becoming a real life Tony Stark as news has emerged about a rather eccentric and expensive habit of his. According to a US Weekly source, Robert Downey Jr has his own furniture shipped to any place he rents while working on various productions. The source stated:
Whenever he rents a place, he has all the same furniture sent so there’s consistency from rental to rental. It comes in big semis. He does it for a sense of comfort.
Now, I'm not an expert on furniture logistics, but I imagine the manpower and transportation costs to pull this off over large distances isn't exactly cheap. But then again, Robert Downey Jr made $75 million between July 2013 and July 2014, and I suppose he has to spend the money on something.
Apparently, his latest venture involved shipping his furniture from Los Angeles to Atlanta, Georgia, where he is currently filming Captain America: Civil War. Considering he is reportedly earning $40 million to play an extended role in that film alone so I'm sure he can afford it.
In fact, Robert Downey Jr. is becoming somewhat known for his exuberant and lavish spending. In April he rented out an airplane hanger as the venue of his 50th birthday - but that's not all. He then used that hanger to house a concert in which Duran Duran opened for Steely Dan. To create a comparison, for my dad's 50th birthday, we rented out West Walton village hall and booked Dave to do the music. Dave is just some guy that my dad knows with a big CD collection and some disco lights from 1982. Anyway, guess whose party cost more.
