The reboots are coming one after another. It has been reported that Dwayne johnson is in negotiations to star in a remake of Big trouble in little china which came out in 1986. The original film was directed by John Carpenter and starred Kurt Russell as the title character of Jack Burton. 20th century fox has expressed interest in a new take on the property from X-men first class writers Ashley miller and Zack Stentz. Fox seems to keen on this pairing so maybe they can do something interesting with the property or just incur the wrath of many.
here is the summary for the original film:
Hard-boiled truck driver Jack Burton, who gets caught in a bizarre conflict within, and underneath, San Francisco's Chinatown. An ancient Chinese prince and Chinatown crime lord has kidnapped a beautiful green-eyed woman, who is the fiancee to Jack's best friend. It's clear that a number of individuals value this movie as a cult classic and believe that hollywood will never be able to recapture the magic of the original film no matter what they do. The reality is that the remakes will most likely keep coming as long as studios can make a profit off of them. Big trouble in little china is a personal treasure to alot of fans thanks to Kurt Russell and alot of the performances by other actors in the film. People weren't really interested in the story since they were more focused on the characters and the setting.Overall the best thing you can do is wait for the film to come out or go curl up on the couch and watch the original. The remake has no release date and fans of the original are trying to lobby for a sequel instead.
what's your opinion on the remake?
