For fans of Fifty Shades, you're in luck, because it's coming back even sooner than we expected! Just a few months following the release of the film adaptation of the salacious book series, which became the biggest February film release of all time and earned nearly $570 worldwide, E.L. James is expanding further upon the story that - whether you like it or not - we're all familiar with.

The author announced on social media that she will be be retelling Fifty Shades of Grey, but this time from the other side of the blindfold, through the eyes of the dominant Christian Grey:

I guess now we'll learn what Christian and Anastasia's first interaction looked like on the other end of this awkward interview session.

On James' website, the official press release gives more information regarding the release of the book:

Since the publication in 2011, thousands of readers have written to James requesting Christian’s POV. On the opening page of Grey: Fifty Shades of Grey as Told by Christian, James writes, “This book is dedicated to those readers who asked…and asked… and asked… and asked for this.” In the new work, she will offer her fans the opportunity to see the world of Fifty Shades anew through the eyes of its intriguing and enigmatic protagonist.

Well, there you have it! After selling 125 million copies worldwide, thousands of people asked and E.L. James answered.

For many fans, this will give insight into Christian's steely demeanor and perhaps a bit more into his backstory.

“Christian is a complex character,” said James, “and readers have always been fascinated by his desires and motivations, and his troubled past. Also, as anyone who has ever been in a relationship knows, there are two sides to every story. It’s been a great pleasure to return to my happy place—writing, being with Christian and Ana in their universe, and working with the fantastic team at Vintage.”

What might be the most shocking about this is the quick release following this news. James plans to publish the book, titled simply Grey, on June 18th, Christian's birthday!

Now that we're just three weeks away from more erotic storytelling, we're left wondering if and how this new book could factor into the upcoming two films. We could be seeing more from Christian Grey's (Jamie Dornan) perspective, or perhaps they will stay true to the narrative from Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson).

Either way, I hope all of your inner goddesses have some handcuffs and riding crops ready for Christian Grey's birthday. Grey will be in the retail marketplace starting June 18th.
