This is not official news yet and should be taken with a grain of salt, but Schmoes Know has reported that Disney is "in talks" (the classic Hollywood terminology for, "it's very likely to happen") with Ewan McGregor to have him return as Obi Wan Kenobi in what would be a Star Wars Anthology movie trilogy.

They are talking to him "not to be a force ghost, but for a post-Episode III Kenobi," and the Schmoes Know source added too that they indeed want a series focusing on him.

The trilogy time-frame is about all that we have. It's not clear what direction they would take but the movies would all focus on Obi-Wan's adventures between the two trilogies and his watching over a growing and maturing Luke Skywalker. Owen Lars and Darth Maul would have a possibility of appearing.

It would be awesome to see a rematch of sorts between Obi-Wan and Darth Maul and Ewen McGregor can act his ass off, so this would probably be really cool. He even was one of the bright spots from the prequels, which obviously didn't get as much love as the Lucas Films team would have liked.

Anyway, we still have [Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens](tag:711158) coming in December, so we should be okay... I hope.
