Batman - Earth One Volume 2
WRITERS: Geoff Johns. ARTIST: Gary Frank.
The Riddler has arrived in Gotham and he’s terrorizing the city with his own twisted brand of anarchy. But why is he attacking now, and what is his endgame? The Riddler isn’t Batman’s only problem, as Killer Croc is on the streets and his violent crimes can’t be ignored. Meanwhile, the Dark Knight has trouble reconciling the increasingly conflicting ideologies of Alfred Pennyworth and James Gordon in this gripping re-imagining of the Batman mythology.
My review for Batman - Earth One Volume 1
If I though I loved Volume 1, that’s nothing compared to how in love I am with this book!
Like the previous volume, Batman still isn’t quite the hero we know him to be, even making mistakes like stepping on evidence.
Aside from the regulars (Bruce, Alfred, Bullock and Gordon), this story retools news characters like Harvey Dent, The Riddler and Killer Croc and gives all these characters new directions than you may have seen in other comics or on screen.
The thing I love most about this is the relationship between Batman and Killer Croc featuring some awesome one-liners. I’d be more than happy if they just got rid of everyone else and just focused on those two.
And yet again, the art is outstanding and I still want to rip the pages out and stick them on my wall.
Maybe I’ll buy another copy and do just that!
Geoff Johns and Gary Frank have created an amazing world from these two volumes that every time I finish one, I instantly want another.
