The rumor of Matthew McConaughey playing Green Goblin is still in the air, however, although I believe he can pull of a sinister Norman Osborn, I believe he can capture another character quite as well...
DC's Hunter Zolomon!
For those of you not familiar with Hunter, he is rightly Professor Zoom, the second Reverse Flash. This is because he is the nemesis of Wally West and not Barry Allen, he is the successor of Eobard Thawne.
What makes him unique is the fact that he was actually one of the good guys, frequently working alongside Wally West. However, after an accident that left his legs paralyzed, he asked Wally to go back in time and prevent the accident from occurring (using the cosmic treadmill in the Flash museum). Wally refused, afraid of disturbing the timeline which left Hunter to do what Wally wouldn't. He broke into the museum to go back in time, but the treadmill malfunctioned causing an explosion that disconnected Hunter from the time stream.
This accident provided him the ability to warp time giving the appearance of super speed, hence making him a powerful foe. He has similar goals to Eobard, but the fact is he just wants Wally to suffer tragedies to make him a better hero.
Where is Matthew in all this?
Matthew is a versatile and sometimes a method actor. I believe he can pull of Hunter's complex characteristics. Both the good aspect and the evil one. The Lincoln Lawyer is a perfect example of the duality found in Hunter. He is already acquainted with the investigative part of Hunter as well since in the comics Hunter was in the FBI and studied criminology...Matthew is in True Detective. Hunter has suffered tragedies (father was a serial killer, mother was murdered by her husband). Matthew is phenomenal in showing his emotional/redemption side (Interstellar, Mud, and Dallas Buyers Club).
Overall, I believe if Matthew somehow doesn't get antiquated with Marvel, DC should open their arms for him with Hunter Zolomon in future projects such as The Flash movie or Justice League Part 1/2.
