I had the amazing opportunity to go to the red carpet premiere with MoviePilot this Thursday. I had the time of my life, and it was seriously too fun. What made it even better is that I got to watch the film with everyone at the TCL theater in Hollywood. I being a fan of the Insidious franchise knew what to expect when it came to the style of the film. I knew without seeing a minute that I would be experiencing jump scares, loud music and noises, and really cool yet eerie camera shots and angles. I also knew simply by viewing the trailer a hundred times that this would tell the beginning of it all. This was the prequel to the franchise.
However what I was not prepared for was such strong and abusive demon this time around. He was not shy at all, and once he had you, you were captured for good. The things the demon did were pretty aggressive. I was extremely impressed with how they showed the footsteps of the demon as well. That added another tense feeling to the demon's vibe. The visuals of the demon were also intense his image alone stayed around with me after the screening of the film.
Leigh Whannell did a phenomenal job directing, writing, AND acting in this film. Each role he took on in the production of this film is major, and the fact that he not only did it, but did an amazing job is incredible. I truly respect him for his work. Jason Blum of course produced it with James Wan and Oren Peli. That combination alone I'm sure helped the film a lot as well. This film definitely came from huge names in the horror industry and it proves just that. It was an entertaining film.
The cast of this chapter was amazing again. Lin Shaye of course did embodied Elise completely. Leigh Whannell and Angus Sampson did incredible as always. They have that great essence of keeping the tense mood light while still frightening the audience with their reactions. The lead Stefanie Scott did amazing as well. She really played the possessed role so realistically it made me cringe a little. Dermot Mulroney did a great job as well playing a relatable and real father with a lot of sarcasm. He had his share of laughs and jokes that really rounded off the movie nicely.
I suggest you go see Insidious Chapter 3, it's in theaters everywhere now. Tell me what you think in the comments below!
