It's space. It's doesn't cooperate...
Matt Damon is joined by Jessica Chastain, Kate Mara, Jeff Daniels, Kristin Wiig, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Michael Pena—an impressive cast, all teamed up to save astronaut Mark Watney (limned by Matt Damon) from the mighty, yet hostile Mars.
Based on the bestselling novel of the same name, The Martian, is written by Andy Weir. Already looking like an Oscar player, the trailer, running 3 minutes and 18 seconds show off enough of the dazzling VFX and the intensity, asking us to be ready for its November release.
During a manned mission to Mars, Astronaut Mark Watney is presumed dead after a fierce storm and left behind by his crew. But Watney has survived and finds himself stranded and alone on the hostile planet. With only meager supplies, he must draw upon his ingenuity, wit and spirit to subsist and find a way to signal to Earth that he is alive.
Late in 2014, the promotional campaign of the film began in a bold, unique manner when director Ridley Scott sent the title page of the script, which is penned by scribe Drew Goddard, into space--hitching a ride in NASA's Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle. More on that here.
Director Ridley Scott's given us the previous sci-fi films like Alien, Blade Runner and Prometheus. The Martian marks his fourth. He'll be next tackling Prometheus 2.
The Martian releases on November 25, 2015.
