There have been a few lucky Kingdom Hearts fans that have seen more of Square Enix's upcoming game then the majority of us - I wonder if the wait has become more arduous for them. It's been a long and difficult road waiting for this game, and the prospect of getting an advanced look at Kingdom Hearts 3 in less than two weeks is insanely exciting. Will we get a release date announcement at E3? Will we receive an extended look at gameplay or some of the Disney characters or worlds?! We'll have to wait and see.

But if there's one element of Kingdom Hearts that makes the wait feel so much longer, it's hearing the stunning music of Yoko Shimomura. Her compositions are inherently nostalgic, even the first three notes of Dearly Beloved are enough to make you reminisce about your younger years. But these fan-made remixes and recordings of the music of Kingdom Hearts, will be enough to make the wait for the Kingdom Hearts 3 release date that bit more unbearable.

Kingdom Hearts 3: This KH Music Has Made the Release Date Feel Much Further From My Grasp

Dearly Beloved

When the new Kingdom Hearts HD remixes were released for the PS3 last year, one of the first things I did when arriving home every day was leaving the TV running in the background. The music in the menu for Kingdom Hearts is that beautiful. Dearly Beloved is one of the most beautiful pieces composed for a video game and these fans have taken two very different approaches to covering Yoko Shimomura's music.

First up, we have Rozen on SoundCloud with his album, Sharing the Same Sky. His rendition of Dearly Beloved is pretty epic and really highlights the emotional power of the piece. It's extremely cheesy, but isn't that just an inherent part of the Kingdom Hearts franchise? Prepare to be moved!

Next up, we have Silver Waves with a very different take on the Dearly Beloved theme. The only problem that I have with this piece is that it's far too short! But it's great to hear Kingdom Hearts with a more electronic vibe. It actually works really well in my opinion, and I'd love to see Kingdom Hearts 3 make something as soothing as this...I may be listening to this on repeat all day in work. God damn it Silver Waves!!

Be sure to check out some of the other music that these artists have done, and Rozen does a really great cover of Hikari too - check it out. Kingdom Hearts 3 is probably a long way off from receiving a release date, but I can't wait to indulge myself in this music once more. What about you guys? What's your favourite piece of music from the Kingdom Hearts series and do you have any covers you can recommend to us? Let us know in the comments!
