At this point in his career, Hugh Jackman has a lot he can point to as proof that he's a quality actor with a strong filmography. I think it's fair to say though, that the first role of his that comes to mind for most people is Wolverine from the X-Men Series. I would probably venture to say the general consensus has been that he was cast perfectly for the role.
So what if I were to tell you that Jerry Seinfeld, of all people, could be a big part of the reason why we may never see him reprise the role again? I mean, Jerry may have had a point, but damn. Is this the end of an era?
Check out what he had to say on Kelly & Michael Live.
Hugh Jackman and Jerry Seinfeld are really good friends, which to me is one of the coolest things I could possibly think of. I mean, an amazing action hero and an epic comedian hanging out together just sounds almost too good to be true.
I would love to be a fly on the wall for some of those conversations. I'm sure they are awesome. And it's cool that two super successful guys can give each other career advice that they take seriously.
I suppose the gist of the argument Seinfeld had was that, based on his own experience with his classic sitcom, Seinfeld, it's always best to go out on a high note. Jackman has been doing it for 17 years! That might be enough, to be honest. It sounds like he is excited to deliver his best performance yet now that he's announced that it's his last.
Check out this awesome video of his audition for Wolverine:
So, thanks Jerry! Way to get inside the head of the Wolverine I've grown up with and who I think easily has delivered a top 5 iconic cinematic superhero performance of all time!
No, but in all seriousness, it could be good to see Jackman get back into some non X-Men roles. I'm sure his talent will keep him around Hollywood for another decade, at least. I guess he'll just be claw-less from here on out.
