Laverne Cox To Be The First Transgender Wax Figure At Madame Tussauds!
Orange Is The New Black actress, Laverne Cox, will be Madame Tussauds first transgender wax figure.
'I am so deeply honored to have been asked to be part of the Madame Tussauds legacy.'
said Cox in a statement.
"When I think about being who I am, a black trans woman from a working class background raised in Mobile, Alabama, this honor feels even more improbable and extraordinary. I hope that this will be a source of inspiration for every one who encounters it to believe that their dreams matter and are possible."
As part of the Pride month celebrations, the figure will debut at Tussauds' Fisherman Wharf location in San Francisco on June 26 and will be in the company of Alfred Hitchcock, Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, Harvey Milk, Adele, Michael Jackson and many more!
Since her breakout role as Sophia Burset on Orange Is The New Black, this is just another thing to add to the list of Cox's accomplishments including being the first openly transgender person to cover TIME Magazine and to be nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award.
