2015 is ablaze with film franchises, spinoffs magazines and books. Among them is one of the most iconic of the scifi genre, Star Wars. Episode 7 is due to be released this December with a sequel coming out two years later and 2 spinoffs confirmed in between. What about the future of Star Wars beyond those dates? The Star Wars universe is vast with many elements that can be explored and expanded upon from Boba Fett, to Obiwan and Anakin to the deserts of Tatooine to the forces of the rebellion, but what about some of the other names that have been rumoured and thrown out there, such as Yoda, Mace Windu and Darth Maul. What if Lucasarts and disney were to listen to the fans for suggestions to a possible spinoff?

Today I have come up what I think would be an epic area for Star wars to explore: the villains. As DC's Suicide Squad is due to be released in 2016, one does not wonder how interesting it will be to explore the perspectives of villains to known to the mythology of books and comics like that of Marvel and DC. This type of film is unique in that the most interesting characters come together and have their own film, even Sony planned to release a spiderman spinoff based on the sinister Six, but what about Starwars?

Looking back at the prequels, they may have had the fans screaming for them to improve every film, but I believe one of the better qualities of those films were the villains, in particular Count Dooku and Darth Maul, the latter of which has been made a fan favourite in his own right and whom some fans have been open to having a spinoff.

It would be most interesting to discover the origins and stories of some of starwars most notorious villains and have them team up with a background story as to how the jedi and the sith fought against one another, creating what I call a Suicide Squad style Star Wars film. This would also be an interesting film to watch how the team would interact and how their characterisation influences the story and the motives of the war that began with the events of the Phantom Menace. The ideal team I would have in mind would be: Darth Maul as the no nonsense Legolas with a double-bladed lightsabre, Count Dooku with his commanding and anti-Obiwan wisdom, Asajj Ventress as the young wildcard of the group with 2 lightsabres, Darth Sideous as the lord and leader of the group with his sadistic and manipulative ways, General Grievous with his calculating and sly and Igor type demeanour, sporting an insane collection of lightsabres as well as an original character that may be created for supporting Darth Sideous. It would be most interesting to see them as they plan the biggest war known to the Republic.

I leave out Anakin Skywalker for the damage made to the character during the prequels and for legitimacy as he would not have been born yet, and as most of the characters were killed during the prequels and would be more likely to be portrayed in a prequel. This would also be the type of film that would do the prequels better justice. If the starwars franchise is to continue, Disney will look at every possible way the story can be expanded and no doubt that somewhere along the way there will mentions of the events that occurred in the prequels and sooner or later it may be necessary to remake them and maintain their validity.

What do you guys think? What other villains would you like to see and what other spinoffs can you think of that would be awesome ideas?
